more time at home = more time concocting drinks
and playing with ideas at my home bar πŸ™‚

this new page is my collection of my very favorite cocktail recipes,
and i will be adding more as i go.
(if there is an ingredient you can’t find at your grocery store,
i recommend checking amazon – like for the cassis syrup or honey syrup.)

first up: one of my favorites, the french gimlet.
2 oz gin (recommended: treaty oak distillery’s waterloo old yaupon)
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz st. germain elderflower liqueur
> shake all ingredients in a shaker with lots of ice, and strain into a small glass. garnish with a paper-thin lime slice on top.

the bee’s knees.
2 oz gin (i use hendrick’s, or old yaupon, of course)
1 1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz (to taste) honey syrup, or simple syrup
> shake all ingredients in a shaker with lots of ice, and strain into a small glass. optional: top with club soda and pour over ice.

my friend leah’s favorite, the gold rush.
2 oz bourbon (recommended: high west american prairie)
3/4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz honey syrup (thinner than regular honey, made for cocktails)
> shake all ingredients in a shaker with lots of ice, and strain into a small glass.

the diablo margarita from paloma in santa fe, nm
2 oz tequila (or you can use mezcal)
2 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz pure ginger syrup
1/2 oz cassis (blackcurrant) syrup – TRUST ME (but in a pinch, you can use simple syrup)
[this one is the best, hands down. also, not recommended: monin brand.]
sparkling water or topo chico
> shake all ingredients minus the sparkling water in a shaker and pour into a glass full of ice. top with a splash of topo chico.

my friend audrey’s favorite, the le fizz.
2 oz vodka (recommended: dripping springs)
1/2 to 3/4 oz st. germain elderflower liqueur
3/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
2 oz sparkling water or topo chico
> shake all ingredients minus the sparkling water in a shaker and pour into a glass full of ice. top with topo chico. garnish with a slice of lime.

batch cocktail: spicy bourbon + citrus punch
2-3 inch piece ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup water
3 cups orange juice (if you want to use fresh, it’s about 10 oranges)
12 oz (1 1/2 cups) bourbon
1 1/2 cups topo chico or sparkling mineral water
3/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 6 lemons)
orange + lemon slices for garnish
>combine ginger, sugar and water in a small saucepan. cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved, about 5-7 minutes. remove from heat and allow to cool completely. pour through a wire mesh strainer into a glass measuring cup or mason jar, discarding ginger pieces.
>mix together orange juice, bourbon, sparkling water, lemon juice and ginger syrup in a large pitcher. serve over ice. garnish each glass poured with citrus slices.
